Ducks

We went to the park to feed the ducks. I planned on getting lots of cute outdoor photos. What happened was this...we pulled into the parking lot and see probably 40 ducks. We get out of the car and they start to head our way. By the time I get the bread out, they are upon us. I start tearing and tossing the bread and the kids are scared/screaming because the ducks are getting too close to them.

I quickly emptied our bread bag and hurried the kids into the car...as the ducks followed us. 

I may have gotten a little hysterical myself and I may have had a quick daymare (is that what a daydream/night mare would be called?) of one of the ducks jumping into my car.

This is the only picture I got. We were safe in the car.

But our adventure wasn't quite over. On our way home we got stuck in traffic for about 20 minutes due to a bank robbery/stand off with the cops. After getting around the closed off intersection, we made it home safely. Phew!

Monday {Valentine's Day}

I loved today. 

And this morning I was feeling sorry for myself because the husband told me he didn't get me a Valentine.

1.) I love american cheese singles on crackers.

2.) I imagine other people's houses decorated in my taste.

3.) I overheard my mom telling someone about something I had made, and I kinda got teary-eyed.

4.) I really hate arguing. I generally just shut down and stop talking when presented with an argument.

5.) Sometimes I fake a bad memory. When I was in school I felt like a fool on several occasions because of my super-good memory. (for example: Recognizing someone, knowing their name and where I knew them from. And in return, they have no idea who I am.)

6.) I don't flush in the middle of the night. (Yuck, I know.)

One Good Mummy

I had this order for mini pillowcase favor bags for a little girl's (faux) slumber party.  Due to my inability to cut a straight line (even with a rotary cutter) I wound up with tons of super thin strips of the white fabric.  I had to put it to good use...and the kids have been talking about Halloween all day.  So while they napped...

I made a Mummy!

Busy

I've been busy over the last few weeks.

Today I...

-delivered Meals on Wheels with my Dad and kids,
-ate corndogs and cheetos for lunch,
-had a sweet visit from a Dear Friend,
-laughed with my kids,
-and enjoyed my husband's smile.

it was inevitable...

I keep seeing super cute rainbow cakes of any form (cup, pan, layer) and had to try it out.  The bright colors are just awesome.  And it doesn't take that much food coloring, so don't give me any crap about my kids eating all that color and it being bad for them.

Duplicity

I follow a lot of crafty mama blogs, and they all use a certain set of terms that are just funny to me.  I have a degree in Marketing, so I understand the idea of language marketing.  Still it's funny.  Here are the words that get me.

vintage (ummm you mean, old?)

re-purposed, or upcycled (hmmm recycled?)

inspiration (let's be honest, we're all stealing ideas)

I guess they are funny to me, because I get sucked into using them, and sucked into looking at stuff and thinking it's cooler when it's "vintage" or "repurposed".  Instead of just an old, recycled t-shirt.

New Music

I'm spending my day off baking 24 loaves of bread.  I was given some friendship bread starter a couple of months ago and I have officially run out of friends to give it to.  So...I kept all four bags, and am baking all of the bread and ending the cycle.  It's a little sad.  I've got 8 loaves baked, 2 in the oven, and can do no more in the process until I free up some dishes.


So, for now I am catching up on my internet stalking.  In doing so I came across this band...very beautiful.




It makes me want to turn the music up, lie on my bed and listen to it over and over. Feeling very somber and smart.

I've gotten several banner orders, but I had to squeeze in one just for me.  And then I loved it so much I actually made another one just for me, but didn't get a picture of it yet.

I've gone banner crazy!  I love them.  I want to hang them from every thing I can think of.

Imperfection

I'm obviously not very good at this. I want it all to look so...perfect, and when it doesn't I just give up. Therefore, a huge delay in posting anything.at.all.

I made this yesterday, minutes before leaving the house to see The Wizard of Oz at the local theater. I was feeling Star-Trek-convention-ish. I was in good company, every girl under the age of 6 was Dorothy.

In the day since I made this I've decided it needs to have a green minky back in honor of The Emerald City. I'll post another picture once I get it to...the next stage of imperfect.
