What's in a Name?
I love these things. I'm so glad so many people have ordered them from me. I absolutely love making them. I'm planning on making a few different banners for my son's upcoming birthday party. And maybe a holiday set for all the holidays throughout the year.
Any banner suggestions?

15 random things...I learned after I had kids.
1. I don't like the smell of ketchup
2. I'd rather change a poopy diaper than wipe a snotty nose
3. 5 straight hours of sleep really is a full night.
4. Don't change kids bed sheets just because...they will ALWAYS mess them up the very next time they sleep in them.
5. 3 year olds speak the truth...even if it's to tell you that a fat ugly lady with glasses, "looks like you, mommy."
6. Tinkling in the potty will make my heart swell with pride.
7. Riding a big girl bicycle (even with training wheels) will do the same.
8. Hearing "I love you, Mommy" sounds just as sweet the 93rd time of the day, as it did the first.
9. Balloons are from the devil.
10. Birthday cakes are VERY important (okay, I knew this before I had kids)
11. Santa Claus and The Easter Bunny have borrowed my sewing machine.
12. Keeping a kid up late will NOT make them sleep in.
13. Crayons smell like old man B.O..
14. WD-40 will remove crayon from [almost] any surface.
15. Crayons and a huge blank piece of butcher paper are better babysitters than the TV (just remember #14).

Dear Friend
She has called me for the last 20 years on our birthday. Including the one we just had 2 weeks ago.
We have lots and lots of silly memories. Some of which were kept in a notebook that we painted, wrote in, and passed back and forth for a whole school year.
This dear friend of mine had major surgery on Friday. She had a tumor removed from her spine. Her husband has been taking care of her, and keeping everyone updated on her status. As far as I know the tumor was not cancerous. Which is good news.
I wish there was a way for her to know how much she means to me. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that feels this way about her. I've been thinking of her, and praying for her. I sent a small care package, in hopes of keeping her spirits up. If it brought one smile to her, then it did it's job.
This note was part of the care package. I stitched it all out to look like a piece of notebook paper, then folded and ironed it like we used to fold our notes in school. I really hope it cheered her up, and I hope that maybe she has a small idea of how much she means to me.

it was inevitable...
I keep seeing super cute rainbow cakes of any form (cup, pan, layer) and had to try it out. The bright colors are just awesome. And it doesn't take that much food coloring, so don't give me any crap about my kids eating all that color and it being bad for them.

Duplicity
I follow a lot of crafty mama blogs, and they all use a certain set of terms that are just funny to me. I have a degree in Marketing, so I understand the idea of language marketing. Still it's funny. Here are the words that get me.
vintage (ummm you mean, old?)
re-purposed, or upcycled (hmmm recycled?)
inspiration (let's be honest, we're all stealing ideas)
I guess they are funny to me, because I get sucked into using them, and sucked into looking at stuff and thinking it's cooler when it's "vintage" or "repurposed". Instead of just an old, recycled t-shirt.

New Music
I'm spending my day off baking 24 loaves of bread. I was given some friendship bread starter a couple of months ago and I have officially run out of friends to give it to. So...I kept all four bags, and am baking all of the bread and ending the cycle. It's a little sad. I've got 8 loaves baked, 2 in the oven, and can do no more in the process until I free up some dishes.
So, for now I am catching up on my internet stalking. In doing so I came across this band...very beautiful.
It makes me want to turn the music up, lie on my bed and listen to it over and over. Feeling very somber and smart.

Be Mine
I've gotten several banner orders, but I had to squeeze in one just for me. And then I loved it so much I actually made another one just for me, but didn't get a picture of it yet.

One
I have one. One follower.
I'm totally a bad-ass blogger.
Okay, I'm not...but thank you to my one follower.

I've gone banner crazy! I love them. I want to hang them from every thing I can think of.
I've got several orders, and absolutely adore making them.

Imperfection
I'm obviously not very good at this. I want it all to look so...perfect, and when it doesn't I just give up. Therefore, a huge delay in posting anything.at.all.
I made this yesterday, minutes before leaving the house to see The Wizard of Oz at the local theater. I was feeling Star-Trek-convention-ish. I was in good company, every girl under the age of 6 was Dorothy.
In the day since I made this I've decided it needs to have a green minky back in honor of The Emerald City. I'll post another picture once I get it to...the next stage of imperfect.

The Switch-Up
I have to switch over the format of my blog...I know it was ever so popular. To my 1, possibly 2 readers...sorry to ruin your day. I am trying to grow my sewing popularity and the husband has instructed me to use this blog to do so (he's kinda bossy like that).
Over the next few days I will be deleting my old posts, and posting lots of pictures of my sewn items. Along the way I guess my true identity will be revealed. gasp. (or yawn, whatev). I think my two readers know who I am anyway.
But please join me in this new adventure, and tell all of your friends about my cool stuff.
Pictures coming soon.
