These are for my own kids...which means I started and finished two projects for us this week!

A Gift
I don't want to break my arm patting myself (and my mom) on the back, but get a load of this...
My mom embroidered the unibrow, eyes and mouth. I cut, layered and appliqued the rest.
The birthday party isn't until Friday, shhhh...don't tell the birthday boy what he's getting.
Fox Hunting
Last night I was working on a whole post dedicated to the popularity of Foxes. This morning I go to Etsy and this treasury was on the front page. I recently read this article on Ohdeedoh.
Two and a half years ago, while pregnant with my son (Topper Fox), I searched constantly for fox stuff and couldn't find anything. I would search for foxes on Etsy and would come up with 2 pages. When I searched last night it resulted in 180 pages.
This is a small collection I gathered from Etsy, and one of my own making.
Happy Fox Hunting!

My Day...
Today was a good day. This is what we did...
1. Made a bunch of new friends.
2. Had little chickens for lunch (Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets)
3. Saw TONS of jack-o-lanterns at the Pumpkin Trail
4. Read another chapter of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to my kids.
5. Watched the Texas Rangers win the ALCS!!
Not a great picture, but you get the idea. The trail was pretty cool. As soon as we arrived Madeline threw up her arms and said, "SO MANY PUMPKINS!!"
I did not make these today, but I did make them as promised. The felt isn't nearly as high quality as what the tutorial called for, but it got the job done...and the kids are super impressed. They're my biggest fans.

What's in Madeline's Bag
I've seen lots of "What's in my bag" posts, and my bag isn't nearly as fun as Madeline's. So here's what my 4 year old considers a must-have.
1. Purse made by Santa (according to Madeline he borrowed my sewing machine)
2. Birthday Duck
3. Mini key-chain flashlight
4. Tissue
5. Spray hand sanitizer
6. Floss
7. Rubber Skeleton
8. Compact brush/mirror
9. "Lipstick"
10. Wooden heart mirror (that I received as a college graduation gift, but has somehow become Madeline's)
11. more "Lipstick"
12. Boy in girl clothes (Prince Charming Madame Alexander Happy Meal Toy)
13. Zipper pouch made by the Easter Bunny (who also borrowed my sewing machine)
14. Wallet made by Santa (it came with the purse)

Sisters
My mom went on a sisters weekend last week. 6 of her 7 sisters, 1 of her 3 sisters-in-law, and her 1 mom were there. I saw pictures, and it looked like so much fun. It makes me wish I had a sister. I don't.
But, I do have lots of aunts, some of which are pretty close to my age, so kinda like a sister.
My mom asked if I would make a zipper pouch for each of her sisters. Of course I said yes. The best part was using lots of fabric from my Nana (their mom) that I picked out of her stash a few years ago.

It's so much fun being able to make stuff...for other people.

Fall=Apples
A friend of my parents called and asked if the kids would like to come and pick some apples. I said, "absolutely!" Not knowing exactly how much they would love, not just the picking, but the eating too.
This is just one of the 5 apples he ate today. Hope he doesn't wake up tonight with a tummy ache.
This is today.
As soon as she heard we were going to pick apples, she insisted on wearing her "apple picking" outfit.
This is last year's apple-less orchard outing. So, even though there were no apples it was still her apple-picking outfit.
Finally, the fruits of our labor.

Photobooth
I was looking through my photobooth folder, and found a chunk of pictures I hadn't ever seen. I guess the kids decided to have some fun.

It's a Good Day to be a Rangers Fan
The Texas Rangers won their first playoff game in 11 years! 5-1 over the Rays. That's pretty exciting stuff around here.
My Dad, being a HUGE Rangers fan, told me they won. I said, "Yeah, I know. 5-1." And proceeded to throw out a little more information about the game. He was shocked. He thought I had {GASP} watched the game! I did not say that I watched it...I never lied. I may have mentioned a couple of players by name, which is what got me in trouble.
And then the husband chooses this moment to speak and tells him I got my info from facebook. My brother had been posting updates during the game.
This is what I made for my Dad's birthday. It's not baseball related, but it is Texas. In all of my banner making I have not made a Texas Rangers banner. Guess I need to get on that.

Fall: as seen by Madeline
I wanted to get a strong start with my 4 Simple Goals, so I took the kids for a walk tonight. I let Madeline have my camera while we walked. She learned about Fall at school today, so I told her to take pictures of Fall. Here is a little sampling of her work.
4 Simple Goals
I've decided to join Elsie and post 4 Simple Goals.
1. Be active. I want to get outside and walk at least 4 days a week. Now is the perfect time. I can enjoy the change of season and the wonderful crisp cool air.
2. Have more fun with my kids. DO some of these crafts I find all over the internet. I've already got the first one planned.
3. Complete one project a week just for me (or my family). I've got a long list of things I want to make, and an even longer list of things that my daughter has asked me to make (I really need to start writing them down, because they are usually pretty inventive).
4. Be more positive. I try to stay positive, some days are better than others but there is always room for improvement.
In between starting this post, and publishing it I have already gotten a good start on two of these goals.

Love Love Etsy
I've been saving things that I love, love on etsy for a while now. I think some of these are sold, but the sellers are obviously talented and have lots of other super cute stuff.
This is just a sample of what I love, love!
One Good Mummy
I had this order for mini pillowcase favor bags for a little girl's (faux) slumber party. Due to my inability to cut a straight line (even with a rotary cutter) I wound up with tons of super thin strips of the white fabric. I had to put it to good use...and the kids have been talking about Halloween all day. So while they napped...
I made a Mummy!
A Monchhichi Mummy no less.
